THE NIMROD
Operating Instructions
Congratulations on acquiring the Abinger NIMROD. Designed as the ultimate travel companion, your watch combines a robust 200m water resistance with the precision of the Japanese Miyota 9039 automatic movement.
Below are the instructions to ensure your NIMROD performs perfectly for years to come.
1. Crown Operations
Your NIMROD is equipped with a screw-down crown to ensure water resistance. You must unscrew it before you can wind the watch or set the time.
Position 0 (Screwed In): The normal wearing position. The crown is tight against the case. Water resistance is active.
Position 1 (Winding): Unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it pops out. In this position, turning the crown clockwise winds the mainspring.
Position 2 (Time Setting): Pull the crown out gently to the furthest position. The seconds hand will stop (hacking), allowing for precise time setting.
2. Starting the Watch
If your watch has stopped, follow these steps to restart it manually:
Unscrew the Crown: Turn the crown counter-clockwise until it releases from the case threads (Position 1).
Wind: Turn the crown clockwise (away from you) approximately 20–30 times. You should feel a slight resistance as the mainspring winds.
Wear: The natural motion of your wrist will keep the automatic rotor spinning and the watch wound while you wear it.
Note: You cannot "overwind" this automatic movement; a slip-clutch mechanism prevents damage to the mainspring.
3. Setting the Time
Unscrew the crown to Position 1.
Pull the crown out to Position 2 (you will hear a soft click). The seconds hand will stop.
Rotate the crown to move the hands to the correct time.
Push the crown back into Position 1.
Screw Down: While pushing the crown firmly against the case, rotate it clockwise until it is finger-tight. This is critical for water resistance.
4. Using the 12-Hour Bezel
The Nimrod features a uni-directional 12-hour bezel, allowing you to track a second time zone without a complicated GMT movement.
How to set a second time zone:
Determine the time difference (offset) between your current location and the second time zone you wish to track.
Rotate the bezel so that the hour of the second time zone aligns with the hour hand of the watch.
You can now read the local time on the dial, and the second time zone by looking at where the hour hand points on the bezel.
Example: If it is 10:00 AM locally, but you want to track New York time (which is 5 hours behind, i.e., 5:00 AM), rotate the bezel until the "5" on the bezel aligns with the 10 o'clock position on the dial.
5. Care & Maintenance
Water Resistance (200m): Your watch is rated for swimming and diving. However, NEVER unscrew the crown or operate the winding mechanism while the watch is wet or submerged.
Magnetism: Avoid placing your watch directly on strong magnets (speakers, tablets, refrigerator magnets), as this can cause the Miyota movement to run fast.
Cleaning: Rinse your watch with fresh water after exposure to saltwater, chlorine, or heavy sweat to prevent corrosion and keep the seals healthy. Dry with a soft cloth.
Shock: While the Nimrod is built tough (1200HV coating), mechanical movements are precision instruments. Avoid dropping the watch or subjecting it to extreme impacts.
We recommend servicing every 5 years to keep your movement running to its full potential.
6. Bracelet
We recommend that any adjustments to your bracelet be carried out by a professional watch repair specialist.
Once fitted to your wrist, the size can be changed via the on the fly adjustable clasp. The notches on the clasp can be disengaged with the lever. Push down on the lever and pull the bracelet from the clasp to increase the sized of the bracelet. You will hear multiple clicks as the lever rides over the notches. To decrease the size, push the bracelet into the clasp with or without pushing the leaver.
The bracelet can be removed from the case by squeezing the quick release pins and gently pulling. If the bracelet is not disengaging, make sure that the pins have been squeezed to their fullest extent and removed straight from the case at no angle. Reverse this to attach again.
The case will take any 20mm straps. Please feel free to mix and match with different styles and find what works for you.
